Certified dark skies

202 campgrounds inside or near 63 International Dark Sky Places

DarkSky International certifies parks, reserves, sanctuaries and communities that keep their night sky dark and their lighting in check. This list joins that register to the campground records. A campground is here when it sits inside a certified National Park Service unit, within ten miles of a certified park, reserve or sanctuary, or within five miles of a certified community. The distance is to the certified place's reference point, so a campground on the far side of a large park can read as several miles out. Moon phase and weather decide the rest; the campground page carries both.
